Watching Yute needs a tagline... (contest maybe?)

Fri Jul 10, 2009, 8:55 PM
While the manuscript is in the hands of the first of 4 volunteer editors, I've been working on some of the promo gear.. bookmarks, signs... and I need a punchy tagline...

Lifehack had something like:

She lost her brother,
She learnt to fight a legion of the dead,
Scavenging to survive for two years.
And then, to make things difficult,
She fell in love with a straight girl.

That worked pretty good. People would walk by, skimming past the first part, all pretty cliche, until they hit the last line, and I could see their faces turn to curiosity. Awesomesauce.

I need a short, short blurb like that for Watching Yute. Key elements that would summarize without spoilers are:

-lesbian hero (Quite different from Regan, FYI)
-Nanites at work (secretly) in some un-specified manner
-Revenge (though I really dont wanna use the WORD revenge of vengence, cuz it sounds too cliche)

it might also mention starting a new life, a violent man, or a coward covering his butt. I think that's plenty to work with... So far I have stuff like:

"She found a new girlfriend at a new position, but secretive nanites are attracting the eye of some violent men"

I dunno... that's not BAD, but I have time to refine it.. any ideas? I might turn this into a contest to announce on the forums, with a copy of the book for a prize....

---old stuff---

deviantID

Hey folks! Most of my art is linked to my novel, Lifehack, about Regan, a gal who falls in love with an inconveniently straight gal. Oh, and there's a few million zombies, a lost brother, and nanites being used for all the wrong reasons. Check it out, my site, [link] has some excerpts on it.

Lifehack sources- keep in mind, the e-book of course has no friggin shipping fee.....

Softcover $15.95 [link]
E-book $5: [link]
Hardcover $40: [link]

As usual, you can also go to my site, [link] to read about it, and check out the related posters. All the links have previews of the book attached to them.

The hardcover is kinda a rip, thanks to distribution channels being what they are, but I may as well throw that out there. $30 for the hardcover if you can get one directly form me and can pick it up from me. It is very VERY purdy. Shipping is also a huge rip if you're in Canada, but OK to the US.

heh, I lived in toronto um... 15 years ago? :P But these days I don't travel much. My last trip anywhere ran up along the east coast, from DC to NB and back, and that was almost 6 years ago, my honeymoon. :P Wheelchairs + travel = a huge pain in the butt.

Oh, yikes. I can see how that would complicate things.

yeah, well, i wasn't a fan of travel before my injury, so heh... the new difficulties just supply me with a more convincing argument than "Don't wanna" hehe.

If you don't mind my asking, what happened with the injury?

I was riding my bike to work, wet roads, I was jaywalking, he was speeding, BAM. That was sept 2001. A couple more vertebra up, and I wouldnt have use of my arms. At least I was always a nerd, and not some star athlete, heh. In the misc section of my website (ozero.ca) I go into it with more detail, and a couple semi-humor stuff relating to wheelchair life.
