OMG, an update!

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 19, 2008, 11:04 AM
I've got a huge itch to draw something big, with a sheckshy chick. All my recent art aimed around my 2nd book (in progress) has toned down the cheesecake sex appeal, to not cheapen the characters...

But who the frig am I to talk? I haven't upped a decent pic since may- oddly, just before the birth of my daughter. She's not entirely to blame for my lack of drawing.. other factors include

-graphics contracts, more profitable than anime art, but not much fun
-Writing the 2nd book
-Oblivion GOTY (ps3)
-MeadowRidge Optimist club (I'm VP), including the recently completed chinese newyear fundraising celebration, which hit it's comedic peak when I had to rescue a young volunteer from one of the guests, an extremely drunk, trampily dressed woman who had NO business in a bustier.

But y'all don't care about that, y'all want a sheskshy chick! Hmmm... Maybe I should put my shingle out for commissions, so I can be paid to draw a sheckshy chick. It'd justify the use of my time to my wife. :P

Indeed. RPG are certainly a buy game. I'm the same way with them. But others you can easily rent, beat, and give back, which is very practical since saved games are no longer saved on the cartridge...due largely to the elimination of traditional cartridges. And certain in your position, the need for efficiency is more paramount.

I've been 'out' of renting for quite a while, but i clued in.. 2 od my sister-in laws work at a vid store RIGHT next to where I have a weekly meeting...

on the day the vid store does 2 for one... and theyre weekly rentals... no extra trips needed. (something worth thinking about from a wheelchair...)

I rented/beat 'the darkness' (took me 3 weeks due to the baby), and I'd buy it if i ever saw it cheap.. But I like to get deep into an RPG and get lost... which is usually why buying is the way to go for me.. USUALLY...

hehe, well, I've had a similar stroke of luck with the game Oblivion... I delayed trying it out, and was considering buying it... but Lo, there's a better "game of the year" edition coming out early oct.. so I'll hold off.. In the mean time I'm playing a rental of the original version... which I'll be able to load my file on the new version..

And the semi-shady part is that I had to rent it from a place we never use anymore, that has a "extend your play for a dollar a day" (no late fees my @$$..) up to a month... by which time the new version will be out to buy...

and I'll pay that $30 for extended rental next time I rent form there.... (cough)....

OOH! but on topic to the book, if ya REALLY wanna be a nerdy collector, there's also gonna be a hardback edition of it..! :P I have a few requests for a hardcover... which was what kinda prompted me to do the revision in the first place.

But I'm a nerd and need to feel special by having both! But maybe you are right and waiting will bring me better results. Why can't more things happen like this? :lmao:

if you mean picking up a copy of my book, procrastination in your friend...! The 2nd edition will be better, and cheaper, too!

Yeah, I need to go back myself through my earlier works and make them presentable. Time, it is your greatest friend and enemy. Still need to pick up a copy of your work. >_>

Though I have to agree with my friend that sometimes you have to dive in, I think the message for me is to keep it small for now. Or at least develop the world itself more through outlines and the like.

Being prepared? NEVAH! :shakefist:

Yeah, one thing I learnt about my first book... don't rush.. I'm 'having' to do a 2nd edition, just cuz after taking a step back, I wasn't happy with the first draft... sheerly on typos alone.. :P No rush... It's not like developing a game... if i delay, the 'technology' isn't gonna look outdated with low polygon counts. :P

Some kinda doodle of me and kiddo isn't a bad idea...

Nice! Yeah, an ankle-biter can do that to life. Must be a gas to see her sleeping while you play. (A scene you must illustrate some day. ;P) Yeah, I've had so many edit to my big story that I've lost interest in it again. Guess I should stick to the small stuff for now. Guess that's all you can do, take it in small steps. ;)

i KNOW, I know.. I've been so busy with the writing, my art has kinda fallen to the wayside... and worse, the writing has fallen by the wayside because on my 3.5 month old lil girl.

To make it even worse, I'm fostering an oblivion addiction... but I play most of that while the little one is asleep on my chest... 2 birds with one stone...

Next time my wife takes the baby to something, I'll have to attack a project.. I promised a friend I'd write her into the next book, and I'm going to use a photo of her in bunny ears, stuff her into a military outfit, and write a side-event in the book about why the **** she's got those damned bunny ears.. (IRL: she had them for a playboy themed halloween party last year.. good party... :P )

Fear is a byproduct of ignorance. Respect is a result of knowledge. Power is the utilization of both for one's own ends.

From raw power some chaos. From control of chaos comes true power.
